How It Works
What is KeyDrop?
Nobody really considers how important our keys are until they are lost. It is then that people worry about the security of their home and car, and pay for costly locksmiths and replacement car immobiliser keys. When losing your keyring you can lose so much more than your keys.
Subscribers receive a lightweight KeyDrop tag as a gift, to attach to their keyring. Should the keyring become lost, the KeyDrop tag directs finders to simply drop the unpackaged keyring into any Australia Post mailbox.
Through publicity people will quickly know that when they find a set of keys with the distinctive KeyDrop tag on, they can drop it into any postbox.
Once your keys have been found and placed in a mail box, Australia Post will return the keys to KeyDrop Australia. KeyDrop Australia will retrieve your secured details from your personalised KeyDrop serial number and advise you via sms, email or phone. Your keys will then be returned to you via registered mail, or you may choose to pick them up yourself from the KeyDrop depot.
When you register your contact details with KeyDrop, you can also choose to register in our LIFE (Life-Saving Information For Emergencies) database. Additional information such as next of kin, blood group, and any medical conditions that could affect an emergency medical situation can be entered into your secure profile. Many people cannot even remember their blood group yet alone the name of the medication they are taking or may be allergic to. KeyDrop provides the opportunity for you to keep this important information in a secure location, that can be retrieved in a time of emergency.

NB : LIFE service is optional and is self-administered. KeyDrop provides the tools for you to input your details. Each user is responsible for inputting the information and keeping it up to date as needed.
